NICE: Semi-Rigid Film for Crab Sticks

The Lithuanian fish producer Vičiūnai Group uses a semi-rigid NICE PP film instead of the PP trays previously utilized for seafood packaging. For this application, Wipak supplies a 270 μm NICE film that is 22% thinner than the previously used composite. This temperature-resistant and transparent film can be processed by standard thermoforming machines and can be pasteurized at approx. 95 °C. The NICE PP film is available in thicknesses of 210 to 500 μm and can be supplied with or without oxygen barrier.

Herring: Plastic Replacing Aluminum

Klädesholmen, a Swedish supplier of fish products and seafood delicacies, exclusively uses plastic packages for herring packaging. For this use, Wipak developed a solution combining a semi-rigid, especially robust bottom film and a peelable lidding film. The result is film packages that take up less space, thereby reducing transportation costs and the storage space needed.
