Wihuri Group Supports New Professorship in Security of Supply

feature

At Wipak, we believe that resilience starts with knowledge. That’s why we’re proud to share that our parent company Wihuri Group has donated €750,000 to establish a new professorship in security of supply at the University of Helsinki.

This professorship is more than an academic milestone; it’s a strategic investment in the future. By combining expertise in pharmacy, agriculture, and the food industry, the role will focus on strengthening crisis resilience and ensuring long-term sustainability in Finland and beyond.

Why This Matters

Security of supply is critical for societies to function under exceptional circumstances. From food systems to pharmaceutical production, the ability to anticipate and manage risks is essential for maintaining stability. The new professorship will explore questions such as:

  • How can food and pharmaceutical systems remain operational during crises?
  • What role does local production play in resilience?
  • How can risks in global supply chains be mitigated?

These insights will not only benefit policymakers and businesses but also support everyday citizens by safeguarding essential resources.

A Shared Commitment

As Wihuri Group CEO Risto Aarnio-Wihuri explains:

“We believe that strong research and education are the key to a sustainable future. The professorship at the University of Helsinki enables the creation of new knowledge and ensures that expertise is passed on to future generations.”

For Wipak, this initiative aligns perfectly with our mission to enhance security of supply through innovative packaging solutions and sustainable practices. It also offers us an opportunity to follow developments in this critical field and apply new knowledge to our own operations.

Looking Ahead

The professorship is expected to begin in 2027 or 2028, marking the start of a new era of research and education in Finland. By supporting this effort, Wihuri Group is helping to build a foundation for resilience that will benefit society for decades to come.

We look forward to seeing how this collaboration shapes the future of security of supply and how it inspires us to continue innovating for a safer, more sustainable world.
