Together, we lead sustainability
Our 2025 ESG Report is here
Our 2025 ESG Report marks an important milestone for Wipak. It closes the first phase of our sustainability journey and opens a new chapter with Horizon 2030. It shows what is possible when we set ambitious targets, work together across teams and value chains, and turn long term commitments into measurable progress.
This report looks back at what we have delivered since launching our sustainability strategy in 2019 and looks forward to how we will continue leading sustainability in the years ahead.
Strong results across environment, social and governance
One of the most important achievements highlighted in our 2025 ESG Report is the successful reduction of our company carbon footprint to zero. Our Company Carbon Footprint includes all our energy related and direct emissions (Scope 1 and 2 emissions) as well as production waste and business travel from Scope 3 emissions. Through real verified emissions reductions across our operations and a financial climate contribution for unavoidable emissions, we reached company carbon neutrality by the end of 2025. Compared to our 2019 baseline, we reduced our company carbon footprint by 58%.
Our total greenhouse gas emissions are now 33% lower than in 2019 and our operational carbon footprint (Scope 1 and 2 emissions) has been reduced by almost 70% percent. Today, 98.5% of the electricity we consume comes from sustainable sources. These results reflect years of focused work on energy efficiency, smarter production and targeted investments across our sites.
Product sustainability has continued to accelerate. GreenChoice by Wipak® has grown into our fastest moving and most dynamic product portfolio. Today, around 90% of customer applications can be served with a GreenChoice solution that is recyclable, incorporates recycled or renewable materials, or both. This progress supports our customers in preparing for upcoming regulations such as the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation, while maintaining the performance and safety that packaging demands.
Waste reduction remains a key priority. In 2025, we reduced our waste ratio by a further 2%, bringing us back to our 2019 baseline after two challenging years. Under our group wide WiCircle initiative, we are continuing our work towards the ambition of sending no production waste to landfill or incineration.
People at the heart of our progress
Our ESG journey is also about creating a safe, inclusive and motivating workplace. Safety remains our highest operational priority. Since 2019, our safety performance has improved by around 70%, with two sites achieving accident-free years in 2025. Our Zero Harm mindset is embedded in everyday behaviour and leadership across all sites.
Beyond safety, we continue to invest in our people through leadership development, learning opportunities, wellbeing initiatives and a culture built on trust and engagement. Our champion employee experience focuses on enabling our colleagues to grow, contribute and thrive, while strengthening collaboration and long-term capability across the organisation.
Strong governance built on trust and transparency
Good governance underpins everything we do. In 2025, we continued to strengthen transparency, accountability and risk management across the Wipak Group. All our sites got EcoVadis rated in 2025 for the first time, demonstrating a relatively strong management system that addresses sustainability criteria. Our carbon reduction data is verified, our processes are robust, and our reporting follows recognised standards to ensure clarity and credibility.
We also continue to advance responsible business practices across our value chain. This includes stronger supplier engagement, improved due diligence and a clear focus on ethical conduct, data protection and compliance. These foundations are essential for building trust with customers, partners and stakeholders, and for delivering sustainable growth over the long term.
Looking ahead with Horizon 2030
While we are proud of what we have achieved, our journey is far from over. With Horizon 2030, we are expanding our focus beyond our own operations to our products and value chain.
Our next phase includes ambitious targets such as cutting our product related carbon footprint by 50%, delivering a fully recyclable and PPWR aligned portfolio by 2028, strengthening recycled material traceability, and introducing digital product passports for all films. We are working towards science-based targets to ensure our climate actions are aligned with the latest climate science.
Digitalisation will play a growing role. With DigitalChoice by Wipak®, we are connecting packaging to data, enabling transparency, traceability and compliance across the entire lifecycle.
