Wipak will showcase its most recent range of sustainable innovations at the ScanPack 2018 trade fair in Gothenburg, Sweden on week 43.
The Wipak Group will exhibit its latest products and developments at the renowned exhibition between 23 – 25 October, including a thin coextrusion film SC Plus, a turnkey spouted pouch solution WIIMA, Winfresh® skin films, Skinbottom Carton, monomaterials and other new recyclable solutions, and the Company’s revolutionary wide web digital printing technology for high performance paper laminate structures.
“Plastic plays a critical role in keeping food and medical products safe and at their best,” said Susan Janssen, Sustainability Manager at the Wipak Group’s Innovation Center. “From an environmental point of view, we also understand that we have a big responsibility to support and develop sustainable solutions, from the production process, all the way through to consumption and disposal. We are proud to be involved in both EU and collaborative projects to make flexible packaging more relevant to a circular economy, and are continually developing new products using less resources and designing for recyclability.”
Wipak will showcase the following sustainable packaging solutions at ScanPack 2018:
Polyolefin or pure PE-, PP- or PET-based solutions that don’t compromise product shelf life or safety, for a wide range of applications, f.e. to be used for lidding, or in flowpack or thermoforming machines.
A thin and more sustainable co-extrusion film, which uses up to 25% less resources than conventional films, resulting in a 40% reduction of CO2 emissions.
A turnkey spouted pouch solution launched in collaboration with Italian processing and packaging machine supplier, IMA. WIIMA combines a state-of-the-art machinery and service package for spouted pouch production. The two elements work seamlessly together to simplify packaging machine changeover and increase output, leading to improved operations, reduced material consumption, reduced manufacturing waste, and lower emissions to create, store and ship a package.
The solutions for vacuum packed chilled products, such as meat, poultry, fish, seafood and cheese. Winfresh films have the potential to be processed at temperatures as low as 50°C below those of standard films, significantly reducing energy consumption. Latest addition to the Skinbottom film range is the Skinbottom Carton, manufactured from 90% paper content. After the use carton and film can be separated for recycling.
Wipak’s revolutionary digital printing technology, which combines extremely high-quality digital printing with wide web, high performance paper laminate structures for small and medium-sized print runs. Reducing waste and amount of plastic used, ProDirect’s fully-automated pre-press system allows customers to quickly and easily approve designs and order the quantities they really need.
ScanPack exhibition visitors will be able to see and discuss Wipak’s sustainable product range at stand B02:01 in Hall B.
