Wipak is about to complete construction of a state of the art food pouch production facility in Northern Italy. The investment was rapidly approved and implemented as the current facility is nowhere near being able to cater to current demand from Wipak’s customers. “Increased consumer demand for sustainability across the whole packaging value chain means that stand up pouches are an ever more popular solution. Our facility will be able to produce the highest standard of recyclable pouches with further options including products from recycled materials, bioplastics and carbon neutral digitally printed pouches” says Marco Reggi, Regional Manager Director South Europe for Wipak.

The new site will include pouch making and converting capability as well as a dedicated Packaging Innovation Centre. Production will easily be in line with ever more stringent environmental legislation for plastic content in packaging. In addition Wipak’s customer favorites such as 100% leakage testing, a high degree of customization and the choice between flexo, roto and digital printing will remain available.  At a time when market trends also indicate a growing demand for shorter lead times and smaller order sizes, the new site will allow Wipak increased flexibility in its sustainable pouch range. Production will be fully operational in January 2021.
